Hormann's Speed-Guardian 4000 HR Earns Florida Building Code # FL 17220 Hurricane Rating Approval
Hörmann's Speed-Guardian™ 4000 HR high performance door recently received the Florida Building Code (FBC) approval # FL 17220 for installation in regions that follow building policies for hurricane rated products. The Speed-Guardian™ 4000 HR passed the large missile impact test which approves the door for areas covered under Florida wind zones Classes 1 to 4, rated for up to 140 mph. The door received approval for tested design pressure of +50 / -50 psf, and was also approved for use outside HVHZ. The testing was conducted by an independent testing lab.
The Speed-Guardian™ 4000 HR is constructed of a 1-5/8" thick panel made of heavy-duty, anodized aluminum, double-walled slats and includes Speed-Guardian™ standard features such as circular, non-contact roll-up technology and light grid built into the guide tracks. Vision slats are not applicable for hurricane rated doors. For applications where vision slats are required, Hörmann's two-door solution, which combines the Speed-Guardian™ 4000 CV complete view model with a tandem shutter door meets Class 5 rating.
